The Fault In Our Stars is an emotionally moving story about love, life and death. The Fault In Our Stars is about a girl named Hazel Grace. Hazel is 16, and forced by her parents to attend support group. At support group Hazel meets Augustus. They become friends, and share their favorite books with each other. Hazel shares her favorite book An Imperial Fliction, and they both wonder about the unsolved ending. Hazel and Augustus fall in love, and go to Amsterdam together to visit the author of An Imperial Fliction. During the end of the trip Augustus informs hazel that his cancer has returned. After that the Fault In Our Stars ends with an unpredictable tragic ending. The central idea of The Fault In Our Stars is about facing obstacles in life and finding ways to overcome them. Hazel and Augustus both have cancer, but they don’t let it stop them from making the best out of their life. They keep moving forward no matter what life throws at them, and they find ways to cope with d espair. For example in chapter eight Hazel is upset, so she call Augustus, and tells him that she is upset because â€Å"I wants to go to Amsterdam, but I can’t†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦, and because there is an old abandoned swing set in my yard that my father built for me†. The reading ‘On the Soul’ discusses that the body and the soul is not one, that sight allows us to absorb the world in very abstract ways and that memory is learning. In the reading ‘Metaphysics’ Aristotle sets forth causes for the explanation of change: Substance (essence), Matter (or substratum), Source of change and the cause opposed to this. Plato and Aristotle both believed in a universal purpose but the ways in which they got to these universal purposes were very different. Plato was an idealist, he despised the physical whereas Aristotle was a scientist, he loved facts and commonsense. Aristotle would argue that we gain knowledge after experience (a posteriori) but Plato would certainly disagree and say that we gain knowledge before experience (a priori). Plato believes that there is a world of ideas where ideas exist perfectly, the objects in our world are just mimics whereas Aristotle says that the ideas we perceive are inside the particular object.
